Cara Mia Photography

Capturing the happiest of memories for you to share forever is the core motivator for our latest Warwickshire based business owner, Cara Mia Shindler. On her website, Cara tells you just how much the laughter and joy in each of her photography sessions really means to her and we can see why this experienced photographer decided to take her career solo. After spending four years working as a photographer for local studios, Cara found the parameters of her roles were limiting and she was not able to progress in the ways she had hoped. Setting up her own business was the obvious next step to challenge herself.

Whilst it may seem an obvious step forward, it does not mean it is an easy one. Cara, like many of us self employed folk, struggled with the confidence to move forward and take the risk of losing the financial security of stable employment. Despite anxieties to take the leap, in February 2018, Cara Mia Photography opened for business.

Cara studied five years of post-school education in photography, building her skills, and developing her passion further to ensure she stands out from her competitors. Specialising in photographing little ones was a happy accident however, which has led her to excel in family photography and offering newborn photography sessions for her customers.

Setting up Cara Mia Photography in Warwickshire was an obvious choice for Cara. Originally from Warwickshire, she and her husband decided to move back to the area after fulfilling their dream of living in Devon. Based on the beautiful, picturesque High Street in Harbury, Cara’s studio welcomes families of all sizes for a relaxed and fun photography session. In the summer months sessions can also be on location (outside) for more natural surroundings to enjoy, play and make memories. Specialising for six years in newborn photography is evident in the quality produced from stunning images you can see on her website, but also from the reviews she receives from new parents. They often remark on how enjoyable the session was and how easy going and relaxed it all felt, whilst also trying to manage little ones running around!

Whilst family photography and newborn photography are Cara’s areas of specialism, she also offers wedding photography services. This can take her away from the studio to work on some breathtaking locations and gives this photographer a change of pace to relish. With the occasional assistance from her husband with the fun back of house bits of running a successful business, Cara looks forward hopefully. Whilst things have been difficult for many small businesses alike during these unforeseen circumstances, Cara has fallen into the category of small companies that have not been provided any financial support. As 2020 seems to be a right off for most of us so far, Cara talks happily about her plans for 2021 in which she hopes to develop her wedding photography portfolio further. In the meantime, whilst we can enjoy the outdoors, she is hoping to be able to direct some family sessions on location to take advantage of the weather.
