Back in 2019, we introduced you to Stephen Lister, the owner and chauffeur at Executive Cars Rugby. Well, we’re back to find out how things are going and what the plans are for the future.

A quick reminder: Executive Cars Rugby’s story so far

Founded in March 2018, Executive Cars Rugby was born when Stephen realised his beloved Audi A8L wasn’t just a joy to drive, it was the perfect ride for anyone seeking a smooth, stylish journey.

What started with one immaculate Audi and a love of driving soon became something bigger: a chauffeur service built on professionalism, punctuality, and pride…providing a service that’s more than just about getting from A to B!

Of course, there were bumps in the road (we all know what happened in 2020), but thanks to a loyal client base who keep coming back for more, Executive Cars Rugby has not only survived – it has thrived.

What keeps people coming back?

This is not your average taxi service. With Executive Cars Rugby, you’re met by Stephen in a crisp suit (yes, even at 3am!) and a warm smile, ready to escort you into a car so plush you’ll never want to get out again.

The original workhorse of the fleet, the Audi A8L, is more of a thoroughbred than a Clydesdale. Think butter-soft reclining seats, privacy glass, free Wi-Fi, and ambient lighting.

A lot of time and effort goes into ensuring every journey is a luxurious experience. Stephen makes sure his cars are always spotless, valeting vehicles between every journey – so you can relax, sip your complimentary bottled water and sail through the streets like the VIP you were born to be.

Originally, the service was focused on airport runs and business meetings, but over time, Stephen’s services have grown to cover all kinds of occasions – from proms and weddings to short hops across town. Everyone wants to try the first-class experience he offers!

What’s new since we last checked in?

As Stephen’s loyal client base has grown, the time has come to take on new staff at Executive Cars. It has been a painstaking process to find the perfect member to join the executive car hire service, as Stephen has exacting standards for his business, but he is thrilled to have a new driver joining him as this expansion marks an exciting new chapter for the business.

The fleet has also expanded with the addition of a Mercedes V-Class. Known as the pinnacle of MPVs (that’s a luxury 7-seater designed to carry 6 passengers in chauffeur-style comfort, for those of us who don’t speak car jargon), perfect for airport transfers, group bookings, or just treating yourself to the Taylor Swift treatment. With a starlight roof, two entertainment screens, Sky, Netflix, Disney+, and space for all the luggage, it’s luxury on wheels.

A Rugby first!

Aside from the immaculate vehicles and top-tier service, Executive Cars Rugby now proudly carries a mobile defibrillator on board at all times – the first private hire business in Rugby to do so, thanks to the wonderful support of Our Jay’s Foundation.

Stephen calls this his proudest moment: “Knowing that my grandchildren in years to come will be able to say ‘my grandad was the first’…Amazing.”

This milestone just exemplifies Stephen’s love and dedication to the local community. It’s always been about more than just getting you from A to B, it’s about making a difference.

No two days are the same for Stephen. One minute, he’s chauffeuring a bride to her wedding, the next he’s whisking a tired executive to Heathrow.
