Gallachers of Rugby, Wine Merchants For Debbie and Russel Gallacher, opening their wine merchant store was truly a dream come true. As residents of Rugby, it seemed that having their business amongst their much loved community was a natural decision. That way they could better manage their family life and business within the same area of Warwickshire, allowing them to be a part of the community of independent business owners too.
With their doors opening in May 2018, Russel and Debbie sought to provide a service to the community of Rugby, and Warwickshire as a whole, that was completely unique, and which set them apart from the everyday supermarket options that are available to local residents. As such, Gallachers of Rugby was born. Offering a unique array of international and local wines that are only ever sourced from smaller independent winemakers and an assortment of the finest cigars, Russel and Debbie found a niche market that allowed them to express their passion and love of wine through their unique business. Debbie and Russel’s love for people is equally as evident as their love for wine. They are always on hand to share a wealth of knowledge to their patrons without the technical talk, which means people feel comfortable popping in for a chat and a little advice on which wine would suit their needs.
Not content to only supply the locals with fine wine and cigars, they offer advice on food and wine pairings or lifestyle pairings. Further to this, the premises offers wine and gin tastings using the WineEmatic Dispenser. Honestly, who wouldn’t want to try the best wines from around the world in an intimate environment? Once you have found your wine, you may purchase the bottle to take home, or enjoy it on the premises, subject to a small corkage fee. Friday evenings are particularly special, when Gallachers of Rugby doubles as a Wine Bar until 11pm…we suggest you go and check it out. Bare in mind that everyone will be flocking there on a Friday, so get there early to enjoy the delights Russel and Debbie have to offer.

The future looks bright for Gallachers of Rugby. With their focus on educating people on the diversity of their selection and growing their customer base, while continuing to offer the best service possible to their regulars. The Gallacher’s want their customers to know that it is not necessary to stand in a supermarket staring at endless rows of commercially made wine, with a hit and miss attitude on whether your chosen bottle will even be drinkable, only for the sake of the price. With wines priced from £8 upwards, Debbie and Russel strive to inform people that cheaper wine does not always mean low quality wine, but it does mean that you will need to pop in to their store for a quick chat about your needs. When compared to the blank stares of supermarket staff or misleading information of wine apps, we think this is a very fair trade off considering how well informed and friendly the Gallachers are.
