The Warwickshire Review’s Guide to Children’s Summer Activities

 

There is so much happening this summer to fill the school holidays with enriching, exciting and skills based activities to make the most of the children’s time off. Warwickshire is packed with family fun activities and children’s clubs and events to get involved with too and we’ve found some of the best.

Atherstone Leisure Complex

Atherstone Leisure Complex has got plenty of classes and fun play sessions to go to this summer holidays. From the 26th July, your little ones can dive into swimming classes, cartwheel into gymnastics lessons and roll about in their soft play sessions.

On Tuesdays they are inviting pre-schoolers who are out of nappies to take part in fun filled gymnastics sessions.

On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, children from ages 8-12 can take part in a two hour multi-sports session, with fun games and different sports to get involved in.

On Thursdays, Atherstone Leisure Complex are inviting you to their parents and child play sessions, for 0-5 year olds. You and your little ones can come and play with their fun toys and soft play equipment every Thursday, except 12th August, during the summer holidays.

Finish each week with fun filled bouncy castle sessions every Friday. With times dedicated for every age group, all your children can have fun bouncing around. If you have children that fit into two age groups, you can speak with the staff to organise which session they can attend. With a parent and toddler session starting the day, all the way through to sessions for up to 12 year olds, there’s something for everyone at Atherstone Leisure Complex.

Hatton Country World

Hatton Country World is a family favourite in our beloved Warwickshire countryside. There is always plenty to get involved in for all the family and this summer holiday is no exception.

Showcasing over 450 creatures within their 100 acre farmland, you and your little uns can meet with some farmyard favourites.

From the 24th July until September, Dinosaurs will be invading Hatton! Get up close and personal as you step back in time with their Dinosaur show, get involved with a meet and greet and even check out one of their dino films showcased each week at their drive in Cinema.

Onside Coaching are teaming up with Hatton Adventure World this summer to bring plenty of fun-filled outdoor activities for your kids to get involved in. Their Adventure Camp is a great chance for children aged 5 to 11 to get lost in nature this school holidays. They will have the chance to take part in outdoor activities in their Forest School like falconry, shelter building, fire lighting and plenty of team building games including capture the flag and building their very own boat! Your kids can enjoy Hatton’s assault course, laser combat and plenty of fun sports whilst they make friends and learn new skills this school holidays. Hatton Country World have plenty going on for all ages too. Every one in the family can get involved this summer with their Family Theatre, Escape Room and Indoor Play Centre. Kids and Adults can play together at Superslide Mania.

Curious Roots Forest School Holiday Club 

Working with Warwickshire Wildlife Trust at Ufton Fields Nature Reserve, Curious Roots Forest School will take your kids on some fun filled adventures through the woodlands.

From the 9th – 20th August, Mon, Tues, Thurs and Fridays feature Curious Roots Forest School experience for children aged 4+ where they will have the chance to get out in nature, learn about wildlife, learn knot tying and even get to name their very own tree. 

On Wednesdays, Curious Roots are introducing their Wildcraft Adventure, ‘Minecraft Outdoors’. Minecraft Outdoors gives children aged 7+ the chance to experience minecraft but out in nature. They will be able to build dens, work in their own clan, trade for equipment and goodies, make potions, collect bugs and build their own campfire. ILeap Charity

ILeap has so many exciting summer holiday activities available both online and throughout Warwickshire during the school holidays this year. There is something going on every day so you can choose from a range of fun-filled activities for your kids to get involved in.

Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum

There is always plenty of culture to take in within Warwickshire with the young ones. Leamington Spa’s Art Gallery and Museum host arts and crafts activities for little ones aged from 2 to 12.

Arty Tots, for children aged 2-5, gives you the chance to get crafting with your kids every Wednesday between 10.30 and 11.30 am. Bring your little ones along for singing, play and arty crafting with themes linking to stories within the museum, giving them the chance to learn whilst they have lots of fun.

Leamington Spa Art Gallery & Museum have their very own YouTube Channel too, sharing creative activities for all ages to get involved with. Download and print their colouring books, create your own mini gallery of crafts and have your children take part in the meme challenge. Family Fun Treasure Trail 

Leamington’s Royal Pump Rooms are hosting a Family Fun Treasure Trail until the 1st September. Taking you on a trail around Jephson Gardens and the Royal Pump Room Gardens, you and your family can enjoy this interactive treasure trail for free. Take part in fun activities with their illustrated booklet as you make your way around the grounds, taking in the wonderful sites of the gardens. Premier Active 

Premier Active are experts in physical education and activities for all age groups and they are hosting plenty of Summer Holiday camps across the region for your children to get involved with. Week 1 starts on 22nd July and runs throughout the school summer holidays.

Taking place every day from 8am to 6pm, children between 4 and 11 years can choose four different action packed activities to enjoy each day and you can rest assured that your child care is covered at a reasonable price (starting from £16).

Premier Active Holiday Camp

Premier Active Holiday Camps are taking place at Leamington College, Newburgh Primary School in Warwick, Newbold and Tredington Primary School in Shipston-on-Stour and Tudor Grange Primary School in Alcester. 

Your children can enjoy a range of sports and physical education activities each day with games and tournaments including Tennis, Cricket, Rugby, Basketball, Dodgeball, Football, Hockey, Dance Classes, Cheerleading, and much more.

Each day finishes with tournaments and performances to showcase all their new skills and if they’re looking for a little break from all that physical activity, Premier Active are also hosting Arts & Crafts workshops where your children can get creative making new creations each day.

St Nicholas Church, Warwick – Family Fun Mornings

St Nicholas Church in Warwick hosts Parent and Toddler Mornings each week on a Wednesday. You and your little ones can enjoy the range of activities taking place across two rooms of the church from 10am to 11.30am each week. 

Welcoming parents and little ones from birth to school age, St Nicholas Church provides fun filled activities for you all to get involved with. Their Static play room gives you and your children the chance to meet with others and share in all the fun, with biscuits and drinks available too. Afterwards, you and your little ones can head downstairs to have fun with their ride on toys and sing along sessions.

Accepting a weekly charge of £1 per family, St Nicholas Church is a perfect spot to make some new friendships and connections for you and your children.

 

GoGo Maker Holiday Camp 

GoGo Makers have been providing exceptional extra curricular activities for children in Warwickshire since 2013. Their holiday camps are located at four different locations in our beautiful region and give children the chance to get creative, learn new skills and inspire them to think BIG! Giving your little ones from ages 4 to 12 to get involved with fun, creative and memorable activities that will help them develop new skills and make plenty of new friends.

Kits Academy 

Kits Academy are offering your children the chance to participate in a wide variety of activities at different venues across Warwickshire. Starting from the 22nd July through to August, there is plenty going on for your children in years 1-8 to get involved in.

At Coventry’s Alderman’s Green Primary School and The Revel C of E Primary in Rugby, your children can take part in multi sports activities each day with the chance to win prizes and trophies for their efforts. They will learn new skills and have plenty of fun with activities varying each day, including gymnastics, cricket, badminton, athletics, dodgeball, basketball, hockey, tag rugby, tennis, rounders, handball and ultimate frisbee. Packed with fun filled events which will enhance your children’s skills and technical abilities, their summer will be crammed with exciting new memories.

All Saints Junior School in Warwick is another venue for Kits Academy’s summer holiday clubs. They will be offering your children the chance to get involved with multi sports activities and dance lessons. Their dance sessions include something for all levels of experience and your children can enjoy moving and shaking with their hip-hop, modern, Street dance and cheerleading activities. And then they get the chance to show off their new skills and routines with a dance show!

Rugby College will also be hosting Kits Academy this summer holiday. As well as multi sports and dance sessions, your children can enjoy trampolining, gymnastics, archery and fencing too! Warwick School Summer Action Camp

Warwick School is welcoming children up to year seven from across our beloved region this summer for their action packed summer camp. Your little ones can enjoy all sorts of brilliant adventures including swimming and kayaking sessions!

Separated into age appropriate groups, the Cygnets (reception to year one) can enjoy multisports fun, arts and crafts, basketball, martial arts, dance lessons, cooking classes, bouldering, circus skills and much more!

The Super Six groups (years 2 to 7) will be able to enjoy six different fun filled activities each day including swimming, fencing, tennis, kapla, table tennis, street dance, handball, netball, arts & crafts, boot camp, computers, disc golf, rounders, orienteering, cricket, athletics, archery, skateboarding, cookery, hula hooping, jewellery making, musical theatre, Circus skills, tai chi, squash, ukulele, didgeridoo, martial arts, interior design, climbing and much more.

Skills & More 

Skills & More are offering plenty of online activities for children aged between 4 and 12 years but they are also hosting their multi activity camp at Honiley Youth Club.

Taking place every day from the 26th July between 9am and 5pm, the multi activity camp is led by energetic leaders making sure everybody gets involved and has fun. Your kids will be able to take part in outdoor sports, giant Jenga and garden games, drama, table tennis, table football, pizza afternoons, water games, arts & crafts and even meet with local animals in Warwickshire’s beautiful countryside.

Leamington Boat Centre – Kayaking and Paddle Boarding Clubs

Leamington’s Boat Centre is always ready to take your children on a learning adventure. With kayaking and paddle boarding clubs available throughout the summer, your kids can learn new skills in the great outdoors whilst making special memories they can cherish forever. 

They host a variety of summer clubs for different skill levels, from their beginners kayak taster sessions through to a white water rafting trip! Your children can work towards achieving their kayaking and canoeing awards through their various courses.

The Kids Summer Paddle Club gives children the chance to get out on the water each week and they can choose each week whether they want to go out in a canoe, kayak or paddle board!

Jaykays Dance Company in Leamington Spa are inviting children between 5 and 11 years old to take part in four different dance classes each day! You can choose to book for a whole week of wonderful classes or just a day, whatever suits you best.

Playbox Theatre @ The Dream Factory in Warwick

Playbox Theatre is welcoming you for a whole host of workshops this summer at The Dream Factory in Warwick. With recent renovations to build their new outdoor stage, there will be so many opportunities for your children to get involved in during the school holidays.

They have different courses taking place all aimed at different age groups. The four week schedule includes workshops on prop and set design, lighting and sound, musical theatre, stage combat, Shakespeare, show dance and so much more. With classes varying from 5-9 years, 14-19 and everything in between, your young theatre lovers can enjoy fun filled activities they’ll remember forever, giving them the experience of working in a theatre too.

Playbox Theatre will be hosting daily workshops for children aged 3-6 too! High Jinx – Theatre Magic for Little People gives your little uns the chance to learn, play and have plenty of fun. Mondays are Disney days, with sessions packed with singing, dancing and storytelling themed around Disney classics. Tuesdays, your budding little set designers can get creative with costumes and decorations. Each day is packed with opportunities for fun filled role play and an opportunity to get messy and creative. And the week always ends with a big party where your little ones are invited to come in fancy dress for an exciting day with play, face painting, music, dance and games!

Sky Blues in The Community Summer Holiday Courses

For boys and girls aged between 5 and 12 looking to enjoy some football this summer, Sky Blues in the Community Summer Holiday Courses are taking place at Coventry’s Blue Coat School and The Alan Higgs Centre, giving your children the chance to take part in fun-filled days of physical activities.

Football Workshops begin on 26th July and are running for 5 weeks, alternating weekly between the two locations. Each day begins at 10am and is run by expert football coaches with talent scouts in attendance! Children aged between five and twelve can enjoy endless fun playing action packed games and refining their skills in this active holiday camp. Foundry Woods, Leamington

Foundry Woods in Leamington spa is a lovely spot to escape the hustle and bustle of the town centre. They regularly hold schools of fun for your little ones to enjoy. 

Muddy Puddles Mini Forest School for children between 2 and 4 years old offers you and your little ones the chance to enjoy bug hunting, bird watching and den building in this special little nook of woodland. 

Their Magical World of Stories school on Wednesdays is for children between 6 months and 5 years old. They can take part in fun stories, songs and dancing in the woodland. Jen from Magical World of Stories also hosts her special days in Warwick’s Hampton Magna too!

Foundry Woods Forest School

Foundry Woods Forest School for children aged five years and over is a great outdoors adventure including a host of activities to connect with nature. You children can enjoy den building, learn how to make campfires and cooking, take part in foraging fun and learn how to identify trees, fungi and flowers.

And if this isn’t enough, you can head down to Foundry Woods on the 25th July to take part in their Big Butterfly Count! Learn how to spot and identify different species of butterflies as they collect a record of what’s living in this luscious woodland in Leamington Spa.

Stratford Butterfly Farm is a great day out for all the family. Explore the gorgeous farm packed with different areas to explore; a great day of education and nature for every body!

The MAD Museum in Stratford upon Avon is full of interactive displays of mechanical art and design. Explore the exhibits with their moving parts, handles, buttons and levers.

Tudor World in Stratford Upon Avon is an interactive museum experience for the whole family. Take part in a witch trial, try quill writing and plenty of other interactive exhibits to enjoy.
