Warwickshire singer-songwriter releases track with Grammy winning jazz duo

The ability to meld together emotive lyrics and a compelling melody is fast becoming the trademark of 23 year old Jazz-Pop singer songwriter Eva Gadd. Marry this with the superlative talent of Grammy award winning Jazztronica duo NK-OK and David Mrakpor of Blue Lab Beats and you can’t fail to be mesmerized by the resulting track, GET IT, released by Blue Adventure Records on September 1st 2023.

Growing up in Kineton, Eva’s early music life included performing with the Warwickshire County Girls Choir in The Nutcracker at Birmingham Hippodrome, and she went on to study Popular Music at Stratford on Avon College and Falmouth University. She says: “Many of my songs thus far have been acoustic voice and piano. Having the chance to work with co-writers Namali and David of Blue Lab Beats has given my music a fascinating new dimension and watching them work in their London studio has been a real insight for me.”

Get It is the second release from a forthcoming EP, though it was actually the first project the artists worked on together in the studio. The creative process kicked off with a Blue Lab Beats track titled ‘Get It’; which immediately inspired Eva to use the words as the concept for the song. She explains “I was excited to start working on Get It straight after I heard the demo. The words flowed so easily and I loved the relaxed groove and guitar riff. I envisioned adding stacks of vocal harmonies which are now a prominent feature of the finished song.”

“Cos when you want it, you get it, and once you get it, you always seem to let it go” “The lyrics in Get It describe a common difference I’ve noticed between men and women when it comes to emotional attachment. I wanted to write about how easy it seems for some men to walk away from situations involving feelings – and how sometimes I’ve envied them for that. I think women would be judged more harshly for doing the same.”

Eva is still on a high from performing on the BBC Introducing stage at Truck Festival in July, and 2023 has also seen her on stage at Beat Herder Festival in Lancashire and the O2 Academy Oxford. She is very excited about the prospect of releasing Get It, and hopes that it will be as well received as her debut single with the duo, ‘Breathing’ which was picked up by some of the big playlists including New Music Friday and Fresh Finds UK.
