A celebration of the best of Coventry and Warwickshire’s food and drink scene is at the heart of a new awards program designed to support businesses as they re-emerge from lockdown.
The first Foodie Awards 2021, in partnership with Visit Coventry, lists among its guest judges Birmingham-born Michelin star chef Glyn Purnell and chef-turned-restaurateur Andreas Antona, founder of The Cross in Kenilworth.
Three further special awards will also recognise the extraordinary efforts of businesses and individuals throughout the coronavirus pandemic – including the COVID-19 Resilience Award sponsored by Visit Coventry and The Godiva Award, sponsored by Coventry BID. The Foodie Awards will also be raising money for The Trussell Trust network of eight foodbanks in Coventry and Warwickshire.
The next category under the spotlight is “Pub Or Bar Of The Year Award”…
Whether you’re running a high-end wine bar or town centre tavern, this award recognises passion for excellence and the lengths licensees go to lay on a first class customer experience, making this a must go-to destination for locals and visitors alike.
The category is open to establishments from country pubs to cocktail bars, tap rooms, wine bars and anywhere that tempts people with a tipple.
The winner will be able to boast a great offering, innovative ideas and top-level service that make it a hit with drinks fans across the board.
Foodies co-organiser Amanda Chalmers, of Chalmers News PR, said: “Pubs and bars have been put through the mill this year with their ability to simply do what they do best – and the challenges continue for the weeks, if not months, ahead.
“What better time then to help shine a spotlight on those businesses which, despite everything, are still managing not only to keep their doors open, but maintain the high standards of service and reputation they have become known for among their customers.
“Do you know a hostelry that is at the heart of its community or stands out from the crowd? Now is the time to celebrate, and at the same time support, their excellence.”
